2009/2010!!!

Hey there everyone!!

Well its that time of year again!, where we look back on the year so far and look forward to what's in-store for the future.

Last night was our last show of 2009 @ the (Last ever!!) Muni fight night in Pontypridd. Other bands included Nothing New, Death of an icon, Set In Motion and "Headliner" Dreamer.

Thanks to everyone who turned up to this final fight night and a big thanks to Deadstar events for letting us be a part of what would be regarded as the end of an era. Check them out @ www.myspace.com/deadstarevents, Good luck with you new plans to get kids off the streets and into the venues! Support your local scene!

Anyways whats up with us?

Well as our final job of the year, we will be doing a radio session on the 7th dec 7pm-9pm with Tequila live Sessions. For more information check out:

Other news:

The album is 100% complete as we've mentioned previously, artwork is being pushed for completion asap, so the production and everything else can start to begin!
We are hoping that it will be out in January 2010!

The EP is still awaiting vocals, we've all been hit with a huge amount of other work involving the album which has halted the process of putting the finishing touches to the EP!

So follow us & me here: @caesarsrome / @jdhopkins

EP Lyrics

So i've been handed some free time on a Friday night. I thought i'd post the lyrics up for the songs that feature on the EP. I don't know about everyone but i find it interesting to know the lyrics for songs before the release.

Plus if you come to see us live you can have a head start in singing along:

In Your Defence
wrap me up in sellotape
i am the gift
ill play a part in this criminal case
just to be safe
they said your name, i heard a cry
it came from the heart
maybe we can talk again
its the price i have to pay

So I'm turning the clocks back
will it be the same
am i re-living my nightmares
frame by frame
i'm carrying it all for you
with my head held high
will i survive
in your defence

stand up, single file
it's just another day
we all live in dark times
i suggest we kneel and pray
so i reach the shoreline
to wash my sins away
is this love yours or mine
i dont think i'm the one to say.

So I'm turning the clocks back
will it be the same
am i re-living my nightmares
frame by frame
i'm carrying it all for you
with my head held high
will i survive
in your defence

Lead By Books, Read By Kings.
these eyes, they stare
into lies
that repent, repent
and stop and think of home
for everyone, has forgotten
more than they know.

We'll build on their prayers
for all to see
we long for repeating dreams

We're not the easy ones to blame

cos' i've built a wall around this place
we're safe, safe
we'll start a new life where
there's (no price to pay)

Stop and heal these worlds
all im trying to say
is they feed their lies
to their prey.

We live in a world
each day the same
we'll tell them
lies, to their face.

cos' i've built a wall around this place
we're safe, safe
we'll start another life where
there's (no price to pay)

We'll suffer for an age
throw me your books
and we'll burn each page.

Traitors
A band of merry men
together through thick and thin
we sharpen our teeth on bone
so let conversation fan the flames
we'll play this game, we'll play

we are liars, breaking oaths sworn
oh save our souls
And so the story goes we'll live each day as traitors

and now we'll talk it out
tell me what you'd like to hear
forgive me for not being sincere
ill trade a life
so you can stay right here

we are liars, breaking oaths sworn
oh save our souls
And so the story goes we'll live each day as traitors

Lock & Key
Be quiet don't make a sound
i heard a voice, dont you see the crowds
they gather ahead

where do the good boys go to dream
holding our hearts under lock and key

And where do the good girls go to dream
sinking ships under lock and key.

I was starting to believe in them
holding out arms, no fear of the wind.
I was starting to believe in them

I'm tired of living my life under lock & key

We are all extremely excited to share this EP with you guys, it's been something we've wanted to do for a while! Come see us play!

Company! Advance!

Hey all!

A big thank you to everyone who came to the FFAF gig at Maesteg town hall. The show was a fantastic success and the audience were incredible!. We came on and played our best, and left with high spirits so a big thank you to everyone who watched us play. Also Big up to the other support bands who played a spectacular show (The New 1920's + Dead against the rest) We urge you the check these guys out at a show near you.

Of course it didnt stop there..... After a quick chat with some of our good friends we stuck round to see the Mighty Funeral for a friend play a superb set, where our very own Jon Hopkins accompanied Matt Davies singing opening track "All the rage". The night ended with the whole crew including us singing along onstage for the final song. A fantastic end to a fantastic night.

A big thank you also to Glyn Mills and Richard and Margret Collins from The Garwen Trust for giving us the oppurtunity to play this amazing show.

Now then, whats next for us?

Gig preperation!

Hey all!

Well its been a while since ive done my own updates on here so i thought id tell you all weve been up to.

Weve just come back from our second rehearsal and writing session in the cottage, and apart from pulling the odd pranks and keeping out an intruding rooster called "Alexander" the trip has been a huge success. The songs for our EP have been selected and constantly rehearsed but we have also had creative juices flowing and wrote a couple more songs!

Jon has all the footage we took, and will be editing all the vids. The finished vids will be up soon, but we will return in late august to do our final rehearsals before we start work on recording. More on that very soon!

Now then!! Present Business....

Our gig with the mighty Funeral for a friend In Maesteg town hall has completely sold out!!! we cannot believe the response this has had on word of mouth alone! Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and helped out for a good cause. We cant wait to see you all there on Aug 22nd and we promise a good show. Weve just come back from our set rehearsal for the show back in good old Manic studios and its all sounding great.

Keep watching this space and other spaces for more and more updates to follow!

5 days.

Good evening.

It's been a long weekend, and we have exciting times ahead!
We go back to the cottage in 5 days! Friday 7th August we embark on our penultimate writing trip to the cottage before we go back there in September to start tracking our E.P.

So this is the one before last writing weekend we have there, for those who didnt understand me earlier. We are there for three days this coming weekend, the weekend which follows our show with FFAF is the last chance to put finishing touches etc to tracks we are recording.

For those who have been keeping up with the blog and postings over on Myspace & Facebook you'll already know that we've FINALLY picked a title. The last time i posted in regards to it we decided to scrap it all over again.
So it has been decided. Artwork has began. Can't wait to show you guys the results!

We are waiting on an Album release date as it stands. We predict that the E.P depending on how things progress will be out in Late October. We have to organise the artwork and pressing of that.
We will be doing a limited press of coloured Vinyl more on that in the future!

I will get round to editing some video footage we have. All in good time!

Repairs.

So it's been a productive month thus far, but it's lead us to a point where something had to go wrong! My amp needs a servicing and revalving by the sounds. Cocco's amp on the other hand has kaput completely.

He's had issues with it previously and we thought they were resolved, until last week in rehearsal. It seems to be shorting the power fuse every time a fresh one is inserted. So our resident technician will be having a look at both amps.
On the guitar front Kyle has purchased a new Telecaster Standard!
I'll need both my Guitars looked at and will be having barrel jack inputs fitted in both as it seems to be the only design flaw.

So in two weeks time we head back up to the fantastic cottage to continue writing some new songs that will feature on our bootleg E.P that we intend on putting out before the album! I'm yet to find time to edit the footage from the Studio and our last visit to the cottage.
I'm sure i will get my arse into gear very soon!

We have one show booked this summer and that will be it until the E.P and album are all ready to go, the preparation for the releases will be extensive so we have to get our priorities in order.

We played a home show last weekend, and it was fantastic, our engineer Sean Hales recorded the whole show and it was pretty cool to hear everything back, we will be recording our show with Funeral For A Friend and hopefully will be able to feature some of the tracks on the bootleg.
So all is well in the Rome and we hope to be able to update you lovely people that take time to read this more frequently!

We also had a fabulous photo shoot with a Mr Matthew Davies-Kreye of a certain band, you may have heard of them!

Here is the man at work;

the pictures look awesome so far and we can't wait to share them with you!

Cinematic Scope.

So the past week has been very busy for us and we have never been so excited to inform you all about it!

Last week saw us return to the studio to re-begin recording Vocals for our debut album, we hit Long Wave Recording Studio on Thursday July 16th and began tracking vocals.
Day one was an incredible success, getting 4 vocal tracks down was such a relief, my voice held out well. Friday saw Day Two kick off with Kyle tracking his vocals first to give me a break. Kyle then had to shoot off from the studio to go congratulate himself in successfully passing his University Course and had to go Graduate with his fellow students!

I maintained the level I had achieved in day one and finished the entire album by 5PM.

Shortly after that myself and Cocco headed to our rehearsal lock up and loaded the van for our very first show in Hobo's and our return to our home town!

We loaded in to Hobo's at around 4:30PM quick set up and sound check, the line up was a fantastic, featuring probably some of the best bands in South Wales at the moment. (Cuba Cuba, Tiger Please & Straight Lines).
We went on stage at around 10PM and had a fantastic show, the crowd, the vibe were outstanding, in a celebration to finishing our album we got very merry afterwards. Thanks to everyone that came out to see us play and those who still support local music week in week out!

All we await now is a slot to finish the gang vocals on the record which will be very soon, and then a release date!
We are heading back to the cottage for a longer stretch during August & September to begin tracking the E.P!

Here are some, not many pics from Long Wave:

Titles & Bookings.

Currently lapping up the sunshine in my living room, watching the Ashes.
I'm a bit of a sucker for Cricket I must admit.
Anyway we finally have some interesting news, if it doesn't excite you enough yet we definitely are over the moon about it.
We have had indication that we will be resuming the recording of our debut album which is still untitled! We are having a brain storming session over the next week, all four of us have been given the task of coming up with some titles.

On the recording side, Romesh is currently going through his diary looking for some dates to finalise this epic recording process.
We are very excited to finally be moving forward with this!

In other news we have re-booked time back at the Cottage in West Wales, where we are to continue where we left off with the writing process.
This said writing process has fuelled the idea of recording and releasing a bootleg E.P ourselves.
We'll be putting this release out and will be running the release in CD, Digital and Vinyl form.
This release will be very limited and it will be in aid of getting some songs for you to be able to purchase and have in your collection!

Given this period in between the completion of our album and its release we will be bringing this E.P out, songs are being chosen and finished at the moment.
It's a bit of a treat it will feature album B-sides along with future A-side tracks that we have been writing.

We have some shows coming up, first is @ Hobo's, Bridgend on Saturday 18th July. With our good friends in Tiger Please, Cuba Cuba & Straight Lines. This show is free, it's already had an overwhelming response so get down early if you intend on coming!

Here are some pictures from our endeavours in the cottage:

Peace!

Operations, communications, confrontations.

Hey guys, Jon here.

I just got out of hospital, I had keyhole surgery on my Left Knee this afternoon.
And I received some bad news....
The damage done to my knee is very extensive and i need to under go more surgery and have transplants of Cartilage and Bone to hopefully be able to repair the knee.

So its been a tough few hours to be able to digest.

Not sure what will be happening on the gigs front for a while as this may be putting me out of action. I'm not too pleased!
Obviously i will play the Funeral For A Friend show we have arranged as I will play in a chair if I have to!

We recently took a trip to West Wales last Friday to spend a few days in a Cottage. It was incredible to say the least, very nice vibe and we managed to create some fantastic soaring songs.
We came home earlier than expected but i was extremely happy with the outcome of songs we created.

More news to follow soon, as we plan to demo the songs pretty soon to forward to the label!
Unfortunately we have no updates on the Album and have no idea when it's being released or even finished.

I'll be uploading some video footage over the next few days of the cottage experience & of course many photos!
Keep looking out!

Rehearsal Blog #5

So this weeks rehearsal was to do one thing, and one thing only and that was prepare for the set for our Barfly Show which was last Thursday.
As per usual we spent about an hour making sure we were happy with the set we had picked, and spent more time writing new material.

We should really save all this brain flow for when we go to "The Cottage" on the weekend of the 26th of June.
We are going to spend 3 days in a cottage in the middle of nowhere in Wales writing and rehearsing our asses off!

We will be updating via twitter: @caesarsrome, @jdhopkins
And we will be uploading videos via our youtube account.

If you havent seen any of our videos yet please go and do so:
www.youtube.com/caesarsrome

Barfly Thursday 4th June
We supported the amazing "General Fiasco" who are from Ireland, along with us on the bill were our good friends in Death Quit Dancing.
We had an incredible night and the show was enjoyable despite my dodgy knee, which i'm having an operation on, the day we get back from the cottage! :(

So keep your eyes peeled, here are some photos from our last rehearsal.. not a lot going on!

Rehearsal Blog 4 & News!

So we all met up at the usual place and usual time at our outstanding rehearsal facilities @ Manic Rehearsal Studio in Bridgend!
As Kyle mentioned we've booked some dates for shows in the run up to some others.
First things first was to pick and rehearse a set that we want to play for the upcoming shows.

We are in the process of taking some ideas that we wouldn't normally pursue and take them into song form and go with it...

It was a laid back and relaxing rehearsal as we have booked some time away as a band but we will explain more on that later!
It was a nice change as Nigel the owner of the studio was around this week, and he spent some time with us talking!

Rehearsal 3

So bright eyed and busy tailed we stepped in for another rehearsal writing session.
A brief and short session led us to still play around with heavier tunings, we found ourselves playing many lines of songs that were all familiar to us.
I.e Cover song Jams.

Tomorrow is Ash Cocco's birthday, the boys are celebrating it at the early hours and before hand this evening at the Cancer Bats show @ The Barfly.
Unfortunately I can't make it due to work commitments and a severe lack of funds!
I'm sure they'll enjoy themselves!

No pictures updates today, as we found ourselves not being very inventive at all.
We're going to be rehearsing for the upcoming shows we have shortly and also some exciting shows to announce!

Currently watching Schindlers List & cannot wait for the next Prison Break episode later today!

Peace

Pre-hearsal

So myself and Kyle spent some time putting down guitar ideas this evening.
We do it from time to time, concentrate on finer structures and guitar ideas as we have no pounding drums and bass in our ears, pure guitar pleasures.
It's been really difficult narrowing down some of our new ideas as their all over the place at the moment, different styles and we seem to be changing them all the time.

It can only be a good thing!
So i thought I'd post some pictures of our inventiveness!

Currently:

Listening:
Gallows - Grey Britain
Balmorhea - All Is Well, All Is Silent
Slowdive - Pygmalion
Bluetip - Join Us

Reading:
Jeremy Clarkson - For Crying Out loud

Writing / Rehearsal Blog Two!

So here we are again, same time, same place.
We stripped it back even more today and had our usual four piece set up, no keys no laptops just Rock & Roll!
I decided to pick up my Telecaster today! The "Off White" number, as I haven't used her for a while.
Tunings galore! We picked some heavy & some bright ones and continued on with our jams.
We have two or three songs slowly starting to take shape, no doubt once the bare bones are set things will start to layer and change a lot, the rest are generally lost in oblivion and we continue delaying our guitars and being struck with euphoric sounds and pretty uncontrollable re verbs.

One of the chaps who works at the rehearsal studio popped in, in the pictures below you can see the results of a car incident being that his poor front bumper has been completely removed from the car!

We unfortunately had to cancel one of our shows which would have been on Sunday due to our van issues and continual work constraints! But none the less once the record drops we will be on that road continually for a good while!
Chats continue on where we plan on taking next weeks writing session so stay tuned for more updates!
